Workers 'benefit from private medical insurance'
08 May 2008
An increasing number of workers are benefiting from private medical insurance provided by their employers, claim an insurance group.
According to research by the Association of British Insurers (ABI), over six million people were covered by either personal or corporate private medical insurance policies in the last year.
Employers are using private medical insurance policies to ensure that workers are able to recover quickly from illness with the effect that it can help maintain productivity and staff morale.
Jonathan French spokesperson for ABI, said: "Increasingly employers are seeing the benefits of buying medical insurance packages for their staff because its obviously good for the individual if they can recover and get back to work more quickly."
Private medical insurance is also being used by businesses as a tool to "recruit and retain the best quality staff" in a competitive labour market.
Research by ABI revealed that over seven million Britons have some form of private health cover.
