'Seek advice' when buying insurance policy
30 May 2008
With more comprehensive insurance policies available, consumers should seek advice before buying, claims the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA).
Insurance companies have been introducing increased cover such as accidental damage as standard which has confused for some people who have over-insured and wasted their money, according to BIBA.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive of BIBA, said: "Over the last few years, a lot of insurers have tried to make their cover more comprehensive, and they've been including more and more cover within their policies."
By contacting an insurance broker, consumers can have an insurance policy which they clearly understand and that is tailor-made to their needs, claims BIBA.
"The broker would be the best person to advise individual customers [on what cover they need] depending on individual circumstance," said Mr Trudgill.
Research by financial website Fool.co.uk revealed that 60 per cent of people dislike insurance, but think it is a price worth paying.
