Private Medical insurance good for employers and staff
20 June 2008
Both businesses and workers would benefit if firms provided their staff with private medical insurance, claims the Association of British Insurers (ABI).
There has been a growing trend for employers to provide private medical insurance for their workers as it is a good way to recruit staff as well as protecting the health of their existing employees.
Jonathan French, spokesperson for the ABI, said: "Private health insurance has a number of benefits, but principally among them is its ability to help people who are injured or have become ill to recover more quickly by means of getting treatment more quickly."
Healthy staff have higher morale and motivation so it is in the firms interest to offer private medical insurance, according to ABI.
"The sooner you recover, the sooner you get back to work and the sooner you get back to work, the sooner you can become economically productive again," said Mr French.
According to the ABI, a total of 7,140,000 British people now have some form of private health cover.
