Have "appropriate insurance" before travelling
06 May 2008
Tourists embarking on adventure holidays should take out the appropriate insurance before travelling, a travel insurance company has said.
With an increasing number of British travellers seeking more active holidays, Direct Line Travel Insurance has warned tourists it is "very important" to take out the right insurance and protect against an accident.
Research by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office revealed that while the risk of serious injury among young sports enthusiasts was on the rise, 31 per cent of Brits had failed to take out the correct insurance that applied to their sport.
Chris Price head of Direct Line Travel Insurance, said: "It is very important that travellers take out appropriate insurance to cover them should an incident occur while they're on holiday.
"The best way to ensure you have the appropriate policy is to contact your insurer and discuss the cover you need for the activities and equipment you are likely to use."
