Seek advice to avoid card fraud, experts warn

09 April 2008

A fraud expert is urging credit card holders to take basic measure which will lessen their chances of becoming a victim of credit card fraud.

Kelly D'Souza, from life assistance company, CPP says that there are various ways to protect a credit card from being used illegally.

Describing her tips as "pretty basic stuff", Ms D'Souza said that one piece of advice is to ensure that post is always secure and inaccessible to others.

She added that this step was particularly vital "if you know you have a new credit or debit card coming".

"If you are out in a shop or a restaurant, don't let your card out of your sight because it could be copied or cloned," Ms S'Souza urged adding that writing down pin number and passwords is a no-no.

"If you do feel the need to do this," she said, "make sure that you keep it secure where nobody can see it".ADNFCR-1395-ID-18544222-ADNFCR
