Energy efficient appliances save on household bills
20 June 2008
Consumers should opt for energy efficient appliances as they will lower household bills as well as being environmentally friendly, according to reports.
With energy bills set to rise by up to 40 per cent, according to media reports, now has never been a better time to invest in energy efficient appliances, claims the Energy Saving Trust.
Adrian Arnold, head of trade marketing at the Energy Saving Trust, said: "Choosing energy efficient appliances, which use less power and are therefore cheaper to run, are excellent news for the environment."
If every UK household used the most energy efficient appliances £1 billion could be saved on the UK's domestic energy bill.
"Energy efficient models of most traditional household appliances are now available and using the most energy efficient model in class can make a huge difference," said Mr Arnold.
Over 12 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year could be saved in the UK if everyone installed a new condensing boiler, according to the Energy Savings Trust.
